The grant rate for earthquake-resistant reservoirs anti portable water pumps was increased from 1/3 to 1/2 for areas under intensified measures against earthquake disaster by the Areas Under Intensified Measures Against Earthquake Disaster Financial Special Act, which came into force in May of 1980. The rate of grant for part of the facilities in the 5 Year Emergency Project for Earthquake Countermeasures under the 1995 Earthquake Countermeasures Special Law was increased from 1/3 to 1/2,thus bolstering grant projects.
4. Changes in Grant Projects
Grant projects for Large Scale Earthquake Fire Defence Facilities contributed greatly to the provision of earthquake preparation facilities by local governments. Changes in projects and budget are shown in Chart 5 and Chart 6.
